Eastern Market

If you're looking for great deals, the Eastern Market is by far the best place to go to find that unique piece to make you stand out. Located at 225 and 7th Street (1 ½ blocks north of the Eastern Market Metro Stop), this outdoor flea market is a great place for a college student to shop on a budget. In one hour, we had yet to discover even half of the market. People set up stalls all along 7th Street hoping to entice passerby with their goods. Several stands had ethnic themes- there was one selling Tibetan jewelry, and others selling tribal African clothing. Others were selling cheap boots, dresses, and shirts that were secondhand yet extremely stylish. Clothes and accessories can be found to satisfy any look, no matter how out of the ordinary. There's plenty of food, ensuring that shoppers had energy to stay there all day. Some stands had eclectic finds such as antique mirrors and handmade jewelry. The regular shops on 7th Street are open all week, but the flea market is open Saturdays and Sundays from 9 to 6. Trust us, this is one shopping experience you don’t want to miss.
